About Me.. and this project

What is Saddlebyte?

Josh Parolin’s songwriting diary.

After sailing 10,000 miles, I’m documenting my journey from amateur to songwriter-performer. I have 50+ original country songs in development, built on stories from small town roots to foreign harbors.

The Words are Mine (The Robot’s Voice for Now). All lyrics are mine, using AI strictly for rough demos while I build my instrumental and vocal abilities. I’m sharing them here for feedback and to show the honest ups and downs of building this craft. The songs are divided into volumes, allowing you to hear my progression and evolving style. Enjoy and send me any feedback / suggestions!

Volume 5

These writings took place over three months from Summer 2025 - Winter 2025. Darker writing tones brought me back to more of a 90s alt-rock in some songs. My favorites in this volume are "Angels in the Sky", "Three Alarm" and “Save Your Sad Songs".

Volume 4

TBH - I am proud of almost all the songs in this volume. So many different inspirations. I slowed down a lot and tried to focus more on “what” I was trying to say and driving the story. I can see my growth between these songs and some of my early songs.

My proudest from this set are “All of the Above” and “That Right There”. And most of the others.

Volume 3

I circled back to writing more about growing up in the heartland mixed with driving so many backroads over the past few years. I wanted to focus on some different lyrical cadences which you'll see a lot in here.

My proudest from this set are “My First Bar” and “Prairie Town Lights”.

Volume 2

The inspiration for these songs came from the sights and sounds of sailing for the past 10+ years and sailing 10k+ miles around the world. The ocean is my happy place. My proudest from this set is “Still Sea”.

Volume 1

The first songs I wrote after getting back into the swing of writing. Most of these stories were captured while driving across the country 6+ times over the past few years. Heavily inspired by growing up in the heartland.

My proudest from this set are “Finding my voice again”, “We Were a Love Song" and “Godspeed”.
